2016 1001 Napa Valley Proprietary Red

Our 1001 Proprietary Red Wine represents the best of Napa Valley while being produced in the style of Left Bank Bordeaux houses. The increased use of Malbec gives it a youthful presentation. It is a medium acid, medium tannin, full bodied red wine with pronounced aromatics of black cherry, currants, cinnamon, and beautiful spice notes. On the palate you will enjoy raspberry, chocolate, and a hint of licorice with a lingering finish. Delicious!

AuburnJames has produced Gold Medal wines with fruit from the Bella Vista vineyard in Calistoga since 2006. The 22% of the fruit in this blend is from the east facing hillside block that gets great hang time and matures into a bold dark Cabernet. 11% Cabernet Sauvignon was added from Coombsville, where it is cooler and the fruit develops a less fruit forward more old-world complexity that adds to the overall palate impact. The Merlot and Malbec continue to be from the La Cerezas valley floor vineyard in Yountville and both add vibrant red fruit flavors and with a floral contribution from Cab Franc and structure from Petit Verdot, we completed our goal of a well balanced and complex wine. The 2016 wine was aged solely in French Oak and blended six months before bottling in order to ensure complete integration. Enjoy!
