This particular vineyard is a cooler climate vineyard site, with only 9.3 acres of Chardonnay planted in the Coombsville AVA. Berry Lane sits just south of Coombsville Road in southern Napa Valley, a few miles east of downtown Napa, right before the Wild Horse Valley AVA. With cool average highs of just over 70 degrees throughout the year and planted throughout in Cole silt loam, this vineyard site produces a bright, fruit and mineral driven polished Chardonnay. This is a Napa Chardonnay easily rivaling the best Grand Crus of Côte de Beaune in any blind tasting.
Coming off of a stellar growing seasons in 2017 and 2018, this wine showcases nimble acidity with impervious mineral character, while maintaining a head nod to classic Napa fruit tones of pear and apple with underlying integrated French oak nuances. All in all, this is an incredibly balanced Chardonnay with mouthwatering acidity and an elegant lingering finish.
